Buying or selling your house? Here are some information, links and resources that may help
Property law, procedures and market conditions are different in Ireland and UK so we have created two new sections devoted to property in each country.
Selling your home:
If you want to get involved with the selling of your home - and quite frankly this is one of the most personal activities you can engage in - you should think about how to present your home’s best features and make it stand out from the crowd. Go down any residential street and open any local newspaper and you will see you are in a very competitive market. There are lots of “4-bed 2 bathroom executive detached” available to buyers - you need to make your home sound especially enticing.
If you are writing copy for an ad on the internet then bear in mind you can say exactly what you want - so long as it is true. But buyers are really looking for a home and the things you liked about your house may be exactly the features that will attract buyers. If you have brought up a family talk about how you the house and garden have suited growing children and how you have enjoyed living there, good schools, great communications and so on. If it was a starter home then how convenient for work, restaurants, social life etc.
See some words from Michael Katz who runs a newsletter about newsletters from his family home and is just moving to a new place. www.bluepenguindevelopment.com/newsletters/2006_06_23.html and his website ad at: www.28WestElm.com
OK - he’s American, but being enthsiastic about the home you are selling must surely improve your prospects of an early sale!
